"ATEP" is an institutional investor in private equity funds and is building an investment portfolio comprising low to mid market buyout funds and related co-investments across UK and Western Europe.

ATEP has an experienced team, most of whom have direct investment experience. This leads ATEP to have a pro-active and thorough approach to fund and co-investment assessment. ATEP is a long term, high conviction investor and is therefore looking to commit to successful private equity managers across multiple funds and investment cycles.

ATEP is the private equity arm of Alliance Trust PLC, a FTSE100 company, and seeks to invest capital into private equity funds on its behalf.

Alliance Trust PLC is the largest generalist UK investment trust by market value on the London stock exchange, with managed net assets of nearly £2.7bn, as at 28 February 2010.

  ATEP is looking to invest in funds of up to £1.5bn with a key focus in the range £250m - £750m. ATEP believes funds within this range are of sufficient scale to be managed by well resourced private equity managers who are focused on companies which profit from operational change and are not solely reliant on leverage for gains.
